You are mandated to have an Independent Reading Book. Please take a book from our class room library or go to your local library or bookstore and take out a book of your choosing to read during homeroom and transitional periods. This is a part of your ELA grade and you may log this time in your independent reading log.
When finished with your book you must write a book report about it following the book report guidelines. You are required to do at least one book report a month, and we will have presentation days in which you will share your book report and about the novel you read with your classmates.

You are also required to have a Free Write marble notebook. This is a notebook you will keep in which you may log in all of your thoughts, feelings and stories. There will be prompts to get you started, however you are welcome to write and create your own stories in this notebook. This notebook will be used during homeroom and during transitional periods.
